| General Overview | |
Corvette Club of Arizona (CCA) is a respected and active car club. Throughout the year, CCA members enjoy a full calendar of events and activities designed around their Corvettes. Some of the activities include car shows, weekend tours (called “drivers” by the club members), various forms of competitive events, picnics, charity events and a variety of social gatherings. Two major events which take place every year are the club’s “Magical Mystery Tour” (MMT) and the Awards Banquet. The MMT is a three-day driver (usually around Labor Day) to a location known in advance only to that year’s organizing couple. Along the way, side trips to misdirect participants as to the intended destination, rallye questions, and other activities, provide for a delightful weekend. Past year MMTs have found club members in Las Vegas, at the Queen Mary, and many other locations. The Awards Banquet (usually held in December) is also referred to as the Year-end Banquet. It is a time for all club members to get together and celebrate the past year’s activities, achievments, and to recognize board members and certain other members who have distinguished themseleves during the year. The Awards Banquet is held at a local area resort with a gourmet meal, cash bar, dancing, and a general good time. Many members elect to stay overnight at the resort which is made available to members at a preferential rate.
| Brief History | |
CCA was founded in 1975 by a small group of Corvette enthusiasts. Since that time the club has grown one into of the most respected and active car clubs in Arizona. CCA is a member of the National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC). Originally CCA was in the West Coast Region of NCCC, but in 1997 a meeting was held in Phoenix to form a new NCCC Region. At that time, the Clubs in Arizona were members of the West Coast Region of NCCC and the New Mexico Clubs were members of the South West Region of NCCC. Our new Region was formed and the Clubs in this new Region voted on the name of Roadrunner. The original Clubs that formed our Region were: Corvette Club
of Arizona, Corvette Motorsports, Colorado River Corvette Club, Desert Corvette
Association, El Paso Corvette Club, Flagstaff Corvette Club, New Mexico Corvette
Assn, Oasis Vettes, Roadrunner Corvette Club, Tucson Corvette Club, Thunder Vette
Set, Verde Valley Vettes. We became an official NCCC Region member on January 1, 1998.
